I listened to mainly Spanish music this week, as it is a great way to learn new words. During exercise classes, my boss loves putting on an 80s mix with classics like "Take On Me" by the Aha's, "Beat It" by Micheal Jackson, or even "Africa" by Toto. Some other days we listened to merengue music which is super fast-paced and sure to get you on your feet. My favorite merengue song has to be "La Dueña del Swing" by Los Hermanos Rosario.
The most fun activity I did this week was bowling with my co-workers - even though I lost it was so much fun! I also really enjoyed go-carting, which was similar to go-carting in the US. The only difference I found was that they were much more lenient with people crashing into each other, which our group thankfully avoided!
This week for class we read a chapter of "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down" by Anne Fadiman that introduced us to cross-cultural differences in values and tradition while we were on our journey of re-entry back into the US.
This week I was able to help instruct exercise classes at my EBAIS clinic on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Over the weekend I played bowling and went go-karting with some co-worker friends! When I used to have class at ICADS after class a group of us would go to the soccer field about five minutes from my house and play a game of soccer with each other while listening to music. A bunch of the people from the community would also join in!
