Almost everyone here speaks Italian, and most people also speak English. It is very common for an Italian person to speak three or four languages--usually Italian, English, Spanish, German, or French.
In certain parts of Italy, Italians also speak in unqiue dialects. Their dialects are languages that are only spoken in a small region. For example, someone from Triste in Northern Italy speaks an entirely different language from someone in Palermo in Southern Italy (Sicily). In cases where people who speak two different dialects interact, they speak Italian together.
Italy is a member of the European Union, so they use the Euro (€) here. They have a 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, and 5 bills and then a 2, 1, .50, .20, .10, .05, .02 and .01 coins.
A bottle of water usually costs around 2 euros, which is about $2.18.
The best meal I had this week was Pizza al Pesto (pesto pizza) from my favorite restaurant. I also split a caprese salad and a tiramisu with my friend. This restaurant has the BEST tiramisu. It melts in your mouth and tastes so yummy!
