I learned that she has published a non-fiction book and a few children’s books. She’s also currently editing a novel she is planning to publish. As someone who majored in creative writing in college, I was extremely interested in hearing about her writing process--especially since neither one of us knew the other enjoyed writing! This interaction really warmed my heart and I’m glad to have found another creative writer during my time in China.

What did I read this week?:

Something you may not know about me is that I love to read graphic novels and comics. In my downtime, I read comics on an app called Webtoons. Reading comics helps me unwind and relax, especially after a long school day. Most of the comics I read on Webtoons update with a new issue each week. I definitely look forward to reading new updates of my favorite comics during the week. Also, because I wasn’t able to bring any graphic novels with me, it’s nice to still be able to read something that feels familiar to me.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week, I was feeling quite under the weather so I didn’t do any physical activity until Friday. But on Friday, I did a double-feature: I went to the gym and then to my usual hip-hop class. At the end of hip-hop, our teacher will have us take a video as he demonstrates the moves step-by-step and then in real-speed. During the real-speed routine, he sometimes picks a few students to perform with him. This time, I was one of those students! I was incredibly nervous, especially because I wasn’t too confident that I knew all the moves. But I was able to do the whole routine with only some minor fumbles! I’m high-fiving myself right now, in case you were wondering.
