What main languages are spoken here?:

Bulgarian is the official language of Bulgaria, but there are other languages that are common here too. Schools teach English, so most of the younger generation can speak at least a little English. The older generation is less likely to know English because when they were students all the schools taught Russian. Another language that is often spoken here is Turkish. Many of the smaller Bulgarian villages have Turkish roots because Bulgaria used to be ruled by the Ottoman empire. Lastly, some people speak the Romani language, which comes from the Roma people, whose ancestors moved to Eastern Europe from India a long time ago.

What type of money is used here?:

Right now, the Bulgarian lev is used as currency. Three Bulgarian leva are about five US dollars. They use both paper money and coins here. The bills I use most often are 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 leva. There is also a one lev coin and two leva coin. Did you notice how when it refers to just one I used the word lev and when it refers to more than one I used the word leva? This is because you need to add the "a" at the end to make it plural, just like how in English you add an "s" to the end of dollar to make it plural! Something big is about to happen in Bulgaria, though.
