We had humus, mushrooms (fresh from their mushroom garden!), sweet potato soup, a lamb steak with couscous, really good bread, and for dessert an orange crême brulee that was incomparable! We loved it so much, we went back for dinner the next day.
This week, I was listening a lot to the new music for my orchestra concert, such as Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky and the Dances of Galant by Kodaly. I also have a workout playlist I use on my bike rides and runs, which is a whole combination of French rap music, American pop songs, some Taylor Swift, and my favorite ABBA songs.
My favorite activity this week was definitely getting to travel to Paris and watching the Paris Philharmonic symphony perform Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence and Phillip Glass’ Symphony for 8 cellos. The concert hall was beautiful, and the performers were incredible! Getting to spend time with my friend in Paris made living in Europe really special.
This week, there has been a lot going on in the news back home in the U.S, so I have been reading a lot of journalism recently. I love reading the New York Times “The Morning”. I am also reading a book for pleasure right now called The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, which is a climate science fiction novel that sometimes hits a little too close to home!
