The list had traditional Mongolian and Pitbull songs!
The most fun activity was visiting the Mandshir monastery and learning about how monks and lamas used to worship there. We crawled onto the little stone ledges where the monks would meditate. We went into the monastery and saw their shrines to Buddha. It was a great way to learn about Buddhism!
This week, I read lots of English language workbooks to choose the most interesting activities for my students. I also read the online blogs of my other friends in Mongolia!
Most of the games I played this week were word games like Pictionary and Hangman. These games help my students learn new vocabulary. I didn't play any organized sports, but I did go horseback riding and I spent a lot of time walking between my home and the downtown. Walking is always great exercise and a way to clear my mind.
I have a very full teaching schedule now. I teach a wide range of students, from high schoolers and cadets in training to other faculty at the university. I have to work very hard, but I'm happy that I get to meet and work with so many people from Mongolia. This is truly a cultural exchange!
