The main language is Slovak. There is a generational gap though. Almost anyone under 30 speaks some English, but it can be difficult to find people over 30 that speak any English. This is due to when Slovakia was under the control of the U.S.S.R.
The money here is the Euro. Slovakia is part of the European Union, so they use the same currency as the rest of the EU members.
Here, a bottle of water costs 0.50 Euros. That's about 59 cents in US Dollars. A bottle of water and an ice cream cone cost the same amount, so I usually carry my reusable water bottle and go for the ice cream.
The best meal this week was Sunday lunch, which is the big family meal of the week. We started with soup that had noodles, kohlrabi, carrots, and brussel sprouts. Soup is eaten at every lunch. We followed that with a meal of duck, purple cabbage, lokša (similar to tortillas, but made with potato dough) and knedlik (non-filled dumplings).
