The money is very colorful with blue, green, light red and yellow notes. I'm going to give you basic rough estimates here from won to U.S. dollars. The blue note is 1,000 won which is the smallest bill and equivalent to $1 U.S. dollar. Light red is 5,000 won and is equivalent to $5. Green is 10,000 won which is equivalent to $10. Yellow which is 50,000 won is equivalent to $50. Have you noticed the pattern I use to convert Korean won to American dollars yet? You can try calculating Korean money as well!

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water can be priced up to 760 won to 1,500 won (about 50 cents to $1.50 in U.S. dollars) at the local convenience store.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal that I ate this week is called Jjimdak. It is my Korean friend's favorite food that she introduced to me. Jjimdak is a traditional chicken dish that is served with rice and radish soup. The chicken is steamed with soy and a potato-based sauce and has chewy glass noodles in it. It was a nice break from all the fried food I've been eating lately this week.

The greatest thing about Korean restaurants is that they provide many side dishes to go along with the meal. Actually, you could get full by just eating the side dishes before your food even arrives. Most of the side dishes served consist of pickled vegetables and are served cold. Each type of pickled vegetable has its own plate and these plates are meant to be shared. The vegetables marinated in chili sauce are called kimchi.
