The soup tasted very similar to chicken noodle soup in the U.S., but the algae gave it an interesting green color and pleasantly tangy taste. I also tried (and loved) the peanut ice cream on Jeju, a local specialty.
I recently started listening to Mamamoo, an all-girls group. My favorite song by them is called "Starry Night." I also knew that I would be in Jeju, home of the pop star G-dragon, so I've been listening to some of his songs, too. My favorite song by G-dragon is "Untitled, 2014," a ballad. Do you listen to K-pop? Who are your favorite artists?
I definitely enjoyed hiking the mountain the most this week. Korea is filled with so many beautiful mountains, and hiking has become one of my favorite activities. Reaching the top of Korea's largest mountain felt like a big accomplishment for someone who just started hiking this year. I hope that I can find a way to continue this hobby once I return to the U.S.
I read the book "Quicksand" by Nella Larsen. The book takes place in the 1920's and is about a biracial woman who travels across the United States and Europe in pursuit of her family and home. A few other teachers and I read the book on our own free time and met up for coffee to talk about the novel over the weekend.
Hiking isn't technically a sport, but hiking up a mountain was certainly good exercise.
