






The main language spoken here is Korean! English is mandatory (although not often well-liked), so most people speak some English. Additionally, many people have an understanding of hanja, which are Chinese characters that are important in the Korean language.
The Korean won (pronounced like it rhymes with "on") is the main currency here. There are currently 1,083 won in one U.S. dollar! So, if I wanted to exchange five U.S. dollars for South Korean won, how many won would I get?
A bottle of water costs about 1,000 won, which is approximately one U.S. dollar. Overall, I'd say small bottles of water are expensive, but the big ones are relatively cheap, just like in America.
I really like all Korean food, but I am often teased because my favorite food is a relatively cheap and common dish called Tteokbokki. It's a spicy rice cake stew with Kimbap, which is a mix of rice, egg and vegetables, all wrapped in seaweed.
