Back home, I drive my own car to get to work, school and anywhere else in between! It was a bit scary coming to an entirely new country without a familiar mode of transportation. While I've been in Ireland, I've used planes, buses, cars, and my own two feet to travel. It has been an exciting transition learning to adapt to this new way of travel!
Most people in Ireland use the bus system to travel to shops downtown, school and their homes. There are several different buses here that can be recognized by their logos or the number displayed on their front window. Learning to navigate the different bus stops was a difficult challenge at first! Each bus has its own unique route and schedule, so figuring out when and where to meet the bus requires some planning in advance. However, once you get the hang of the system, it's quite convenient to use. I no longer have to worry about paying for gas or parking. I can even read, chat with new people, or enjoy the scenery on my way into the city!
In addition to the bus, many Irish people walk to the places they need to go! I am within walking distance of all my classes and grocery stores. There are plenty of sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks, making it convenient to get from one place to the next.
