Overall, it took about 3,900 miles to arrive in Tromsø from the Midwest United States. I then traveled off the island for about five hours and throughout the island daily.
My best guess would be between 4,000-4,400 miles. I also have another 3,900 miles left to fly back to the United States.
I traveled by two planes to get to Tromsø. After that, I got around the island by bus or walking. We used a car and two ferries when traveling to Reisa National Park. Traveling so much by bus and foot made experiencing the island easily accessible and much more enjoyable than relying on taxi services and less-direct transportation.
The environment and surrounding small towns (such as Birtavarre) made Reisa National Park the most interesting place I visited this week. With a fairy-tale setting and friendly residents, it seemed like a corner of the world I was lucky to witness, even for a day.
While in Tromso, I made sure to visit the Tromsø Museum, the Northern Light Planetarium, the Arctic Cathedral, the Tromsøbadet, multiple piers, Prestvannet Lake, Polaria, the Troll Museum and the impressive Tromso City Library and Archive.
