Meet the One and Only Female Helicopter Pilot in Nepal

By the time I get home on my scootie, I’m so tired I just don’t feel like dressing up. That’s how I am. Some days I’ll dress up and wear the traditional saree, but most of the time I’ll wear trousers. I live in a man’s world, so I have to be on that level with them.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I don’t have much free time, but whenever I’m done with my flights, I go straight to the gym. I love to run and do boxing in my free time. Otherwise, I just sleep or sit on my computer and study the manuals. We have so many things to study because we are single pilots, and everything has to be kept in our minds.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Nepali, English and Hindi. For both Nepali and Hindi, you say “Hello” by saying “Namaste.”

Do you have pets?:

I have two dogs, and I love them. I used to have a type of parrot. She used to repeat whatever I said, but then she died. I used to have a white rat, but she’s also not there anymore. We have two dogs now: Blue and Berry. They’re my daughters. They sleep with me, and they’re always there in my room.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

I’ve traveled all over Nepal. I have gone to India and traveled to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Austria, Switzerland, German, Slovenia, Bhutan, Egypt, China, Prague, Australia and Croatia. That's it!

What do you do for work?:

I fly a helicopter with Shree Airlines. There are two pilots. Either it will be passengers or cargo, or there will be nothing--just go and rescue someone.
