Mandarin is the most spoken language here in Taipei, but you can also hear quite a bit of English, followed by Taiwanese Hokkien from locals. There are also big tour groups and business projects that take place in Taipei, so you can also hear Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and even European languages like German, French and Dutch when you pass through the most popular districts!
We use NTD, or the New Taiwan Dollar!
Although Taipei is the most expensive city in Taiwan, a bottle of water from a convenience store still only costs you 25 NTD (about 79¢ in USD!).
I really enjoy Taiwanese-style lamb fried rice (羊肉炒飯 Yángròu chǎofàn), especially when the weather gets really chilly outside! Fried rice is a reliable and delicious dish whenever you want it!
I have a lot of musical tastes in common with other Taiwanese people my age, so I like to listen to a mix of K-pop, American/Western pop and older Mandopop! For example, lots of people here can hum a Jay Chou song or two when one of these comes on the radio!
