I crossed the Keelung River (基隆河 Jīlóng hé) into New Taipei City, which doesn't sound very far, but my step- counter says I did 20,376 steps (9.34 miles of walking), so maybe it was!
Fortunately, I have lots of opportunities to travel between breaks in school and studying, so I've been all over North Taiwan and recently rode the Taiwan High Speed Rail (台灣高鐵 - HSR) all the way south to Kaohsiung and Pingtung to visit some loved ones! It is definitely possible to go lots of places around the island without it taking too much time!
I get around with my trusty EasyCard to use the Taipei Bus and MRT! Walking is always a go-to for me as well!
It was great to catch the Lantern Festival in Ximen (西門), despite the cold and rain!
On the fifth day on the fifth month of the Lunar Calendar, Taiwan along with many other countries will be celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival (端午節 Duānwǔ jié), so stay tuned to watch lots of people come into the country from places around the world to build a boat in the shape of the dragon, race in it and eat traditional foods like zongzi (粽子)!
