Transportation in Lesotho: Taxis and More Taxis!

It takes me about four hours to get to the capital of Maseru, and from there I usually have to travel another few hours to get to my final destination. Even though Lesotho is a small country, the mountain roads are in bad condition, so travel can take a long time. I am not allowed to drive here because I don't have a Lesotho driver's license.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The donkeys and horses are definitely a more traditional mode of transportation, and they have been used a lot longer than cars here in Lesotho. The mountainous environment controls how people get around because it makes it impossible to build roads everywhere one might want to have them. A lot of the roads outside of big towns are dirt, like the one to my village.
