This week, I traveled to my independent research project location. I had to take a bus from Reykjavik, Iceland to Akureyri, Iceland. The bus ride was seven hours long, and I traveled 239 miles.
I have traveled around 1,345 miles so far on my journey in Iceland. This number is so high because we did the Ring Road trip. The Ring Road goes around the island in a circular manner and passes by a lot of the most beautiful spots in Iceland. This number also includes the ferry we took to visit Grímsey Island.
This week I walked to everywhere I needed to go. Even though it is cold in Iceland, there is still a large walking culture, and I would say that Iceland is a walkable country.
The most interesting place I have been to in Iceland is Skálanes Nature and Heritage Centre. It is a nature reserve that doubles as a research center for students and scientists. Skálanes makes it possible for researchers to live close to there study topics.
