The weather this week was delightful, as always. Mexico City's climate is considered subtropical, which means that summers are warm and winters are mild. The average temperature throughout the year is 64 degrees. It's beginning to cool off now that it's fall, and the locals tell me even during the coldest months of December and January, it's only about 50 degrees. In May, the hottest month, it's closer to 81 degrees.
There are many dogs in Mexico City! In fact, some locals say there are actually more dogs than children in some neighborhoods. It's not uncommon to see a dog walker with five to ten dogs at a time. The Xolo (Xoloitzcuintle) is the national dog of Mexico, which you may recognize as the Mexican hairless dog. Closely related to dogs are coyotes, wild canines which were sacred in Aztec culture.
