Trains, Buses, Cars.. Oh My!

Introduction:

Here you will find my best explanation of the different methods of transportation in Asturias. I have actually used all of these methods of transportation at one time or another, so here is what I have to say about them! I hope you enjoy the field note!

How do people get around?:

Most people here get around in one of four ways: buses, trains, cars and walking. I would say the majority of people walk to each place, but when it is rainy, people tend to use buses more than anything. There are three different types of buses: the main city buses, the out of city buses, and the out of Asturias buses. Each bus is used for a different thing and each costs a different amount.

The city buses are most commonly used because they cost only 1.20 per ride. So, if it is raining (which it usually is), most people hop on a bus. There is an app you can get to help look at bus schedules and bus stops. At some of the more popular bus stops, there is a sign that shows how much longer until the next bus arrives. It is super convenient to use. Buses usually come every ten minutes or so during the week and on Saturdays. On Sundays they tend to only come every thirty or so minutes. You can either pay with cash on the bus or you can purchase a bus card. You can choose how many rides you want to put on your card, and you pay a certain amount every month.
