Depending on where you are in Taiwan, you could encounter many different aboriginal languages. For example, at Luan Shan Elementary, many of the teachers speak the aboriginal Bunun language, and the students even have a separate Bunun class to learn the language. Despite this, Chinese is still the most widely spoken language throughout the country.
The New Taiwan Dollar (NT) is used throughout Taiwan.
Although most water bottles cost 30-35 NT, you can always find a smaller one for 15-20 NT.
The best meal I had this week was at a restaurant in Guan Shan that serves beef noodle soup. This is a Taiwanese staple, but I can honestly say it was the best bowl of beef noodle soup I've had so far!
Some of the students at Luan Shan learned a dance to a song that's called "Embrace the World with you" (擁抱世界擁抱你, or yongbao shijie yongbao ni). It has a great beat and is really catchy, although I have to admit I don't completely understand all the words.
