Have you ever wondered what it would be like to grow up in another country? To give you an idea of what it’s like to be a kid in India, I interviewed the daughter of one of the professors at my school- Grace! Grace is nine years old and in fourth grade (called "fourth standard" in India). She was born in the U.S. but has lived in India for over four years.
“Dosa, idli” Dosa is a type of pancake like a crepe. Idli is a savory rice cake that is very spongy and tastes a bit sour. Grace likes to eat these for any meal of the day. There are many ways to prepare them and many sauces that they can be dipped in!
“It’s an apartment. There are lots of trees.” Grace’s house has bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. In India, the apartment would probably also be called a house.
“I have a cat so I have to feed my cat. I also have to make my bed.”
