This weekend, I traveled 73 miles from my home in Hengchun to Wutai Township. Wutai is populated by the Rukai people, an indigenous group in Taiwan. When I was there, I ate aiyu jelly, which is a sweet dessert that has a jello-like texture. I also hiked to see the foliage because it is currently the cherry blossom season in Taiwan!
So far, I have traveled about 14,250 miles during my journey, starting from Denver, Colorado. Every weekend, I try to visit a new place in Taiwan. Even though Taiwan is only about 245 miles long, traveling every weekend most definitely piles on the miles! I also had the opportunity to explore Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, during Winter Break, all of which places I found to be super interesting!
When I go to school, I ride my scooter. However, when I leave Hengchun, I take a combination of buses, trains, and scooters to get to my destination. This weekend, I took the bus to get to the train station, then I took a train to get to the city, and finally, I took a scooter to go into the mountains.
