“I have to wake up early to get to school”.
Kids in Spain do not have as much responsibility as children in the United States. For example, in Spain it is common to be 25 years old and still live with your parents.
“My mom is a teacher, and my dad is a policeman”.
The normal work hours are from 9 am – 2pm, with a three hour break to eat lunch and to take a nap; then people go back to work from 5 pm – 8 pm.
“At 9:30 am; then I go home when my parents get off work, around 3 pm”.
School is different in Spain where schools start later. High school classes might start about 8 or 9 am. It is common for children in all grades to go back home to have dinner with their families.
“My grandpa walks me and my sister to school every morning and picks us up at the end of the day".
It is common for parents or grandparents to walk their children to school or drive them if it is too far. A third option is use public transportation. Big yellow buses that pick up students to go to school do not exist here in Granada, Spain. These buses are not needed since everything is usually within walking distance.
