Niños in Spain

One of the things I love about Granada is that is it common for students to start learning English at a young age; therefore, many people in Granada can at least understand English. I wish in the United States kids had the opportunity to learn Spanish and become bilingual.

Who is your favorite famous person?:

“Mirian, she is my girlfriend”.

For Jose, the prettiest girl in his class is his favorite “famous” person. Common famous people admired in Spain are soccer players like Lionel Messi, painters like Pablo Picasso, singers like Enrique Iglesias and actors like Penelope Cruz.

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

“Just dance and the music my mom puts in the car."

Jose likes active music which he can get up and dance to.

"Daniela and I dance together to Latina music, -- she loves it as much as I do!"

What would you like to be when you grow up?:

"Polica" (police).

Jose wants to be a poilceman when he grows up.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?:

"First I want to go to Madrid because Madrid is my favorite soccer team”.

Soccer is big in Spain, the top two soccer teams are from Madrid and Barcelona.

What do you know or think about the United States?:

“When I think of the United States I think of people with white skin and yellow hair that speak good English”.

This is funny coming from a seven year-old and might be a stereotype that people have of the United States. This is why is it important to teach kids about other countries, cultures, and languages so they can be more culturally competent.
