In addition, the beautiful beaches and mountains of Catalunya serve to attract a lot of tourists, which also helps the local businesses.
In terms of weather, the environment of Catalunya is rather mild. For example, winter temperatures in Barcelona reach an average of 49 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the humidity in the summer can be rather severe, making the city very damp and sticky. In Tualatin, we are lucky in that we don’t experience a lot of humidity in the summers. Some places in the U.S. that are really humid include the southeastern states, such as Louisiana and Florida.
One thing that I really like about traveling is to observe how different environments shape cities in different ways. For example, Barcelona as a city was first founded by the Romans in the 1st Century BCE due to its strategic location on the coast. Since then, the city has expanded a lot, but one thing that has remained constant is the importance of the water to the city. For this reason, many of the major roads and large pedestrian streets lead to the water.
