Celebraciones de Invierno en España (Winter Celebrations in Spain)

Some common traditions around Christmastime in Spain include buying a ticket for the Christmas lottery, shopping for nativity scenes at local Christmas markets and ice skating in rinks around the city. 

Why does the community have this tradition?:

This tradition is important to the community because it's centered around family and celebration during the darker days of winter. Most Spaniards get time off of work or school for the important festive dates and spend the time together as a family.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

Many traditional Christmastime foods are made with ingredients local to Spain. An example is Roscón de Reyes, a pastry filled with cream and decorated with citrus fruits.
