Marcela's Cozy Life in Ecuador

My husband and I have one side of the house to ourselves and, my mom has the other to herself but, we are usually together in the family room.

What is your family like?:

We are very close to each other, like a typical Latino family. My family is also very sociable and we tend to make great connections with people. Growing up with love all around will make you want others to feel special. Most Guayaquileños are just like this. I grew up as an only child, so family time is very important to me.

How do you get around?:

I always get around by bus. Here in Ecuador, if you are not in the high class or middle class, you usually do not own a car. There are even some middle class citizens that do not have a car.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

I believe in being comfortable before thinking about beauty. This means that I wear pants that allow space, blouses that keep me covered and warm and even scarves at times to add more color to my outfit. It can be really hot living here on the coast but, the air conditioning is always blowing heavy when I am indoors. I always bring a jacket just in case I need extra warmth.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

My free time is special time for me to just rest. I like to do absolutely nothing while enjoying the peace of my home and family. I like reading books, watching soap operas and knitting. When working with children, you have to be well-rested. I feel my best for the next day when I take it easy at home.
