However, these same chemicals can ruin the land, leaving iguanas with less land to find fresh food and to keep from being hunted. Fresh water can also be polluted with these chemicals. Without a fresh body of water, iguanas can drink many toxins and can get sick or even die. We do not have this worry in Ecuador. Instead, people are very caring of the iguanas and has worked to set aside designated areas just to be sure they will stay around forever.
