A Day in the Life of Aiden

Riz cantonnais is fried rice with pork, egg and mixed veggies. Beignets are balls of puffed dough, kind of like donuts. Confiture is fruit jam. For lunch at school, Aiden gets a starter, a main dish and a dessert. Dessert is often fruit or cheese.

For dinner:

"I like vegetables and soup. Like courgette, green beans, tomatoes, but not radish or onions!"

Courgette is zucchini. Aiden really loves vegetables! What are your favorite vegetables?

What is your house like?:

Aiden and his parents live in a two-bedroom apartment. It's on the second floor of a building in the 13th District of Paris, in the southern end of the city.

"It's white, with a little bit of color in my room. There's a lot of toys in my room. There's T.V.s, a sofa that goes into a bed, two beds..."

He counts the light fixtures in the room.

"Five lights here."

Rebecca reminds Aiden that they had done a bit of renovating when they first got the apartment.

"Before, it was not really colorful and wood," he says.

What chores do you have at home?:

Aiden's just six years old, so he only has a couple of tasks to do. His mom has to remind him of them.

"I put my pajamas on the stairs," he says.

He puts them there for his dad to put in the laundry, Rebecca explains.

Rebecca says he also has to put his dishes into the dishwasher after mealtimes. But Aiden's just completely forgotten what the dishwasher is actually called!

What jobs do your parents have?:

"Mom takes students places to see," says Aiden.
