My daily commute on the Paris Métro system can take up to 30 minutes each way. Most of my classes are in the center of Paris, just around four kilometers (2.5 miles) away.
I am currently over 9,000 kilometers (5,600 miles) away from Orange County, California. That's over ten hours by plane!
Paris has an excellent transportation system. Just this week, I've taken the bus, the subway, the tramway and the train.
The subway, which Parisians call the Métro, runs mostly underground, while the tramway shares the road with cars. Three metro lines and one tramway line serve the Quartier de la Gare. With hundreds of Métro stops throughout the city, you can get most anywhere within 30 minutes!
The suburban train, called the RER (Réseau Express Régional, Regional Express Network), also has a major stop in this district. This is how people travel between Paris and its suburbs.
I love the Métro and all of the transport systems here in Paris. I wish we had something as good as this back home in Orange County!
