Railway? Yes, way!

If you want a nice view of the city, you can give the Tramway a try! There are ten lines, mostly in the outer parts of Paris. It travels above ground, on major streets, right next to where cars drive! I also like that my phone gets a signal. You usually don't get any cell service underground with the Métro.

The third major rail system in Paris is the Regional Train. These are what Parisians take to go in and out of the suburbs around the city. There are two types of this train. The first is the RER, which stands for Réseau Express Régional. This means Regional Express Network. These trains go to the nearby suburbs. They also take passengers to important points outside of Paris, like the airport and Disneyland! The other type of train is the Transilien. The Transilien goes faster, but it goes farther into the suburbs. Both of these train lines have parts that go aboveground, and parts that go underground. Within Paris, they feel a lot like the Métro because they travel underground. But when you take these trains outside of Paris, you might get to see the countryside as you travel!

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I love the Paris rail system. It's so easy to use. It gets me anywhere I want to go within the city really quickly. It's also good for the environment.

Each train station has a map showing the whole rail network. It's really fun for me to figure out where each train goes. I was confused, at first, because the map just looked like a bunch of lines. However, once I got used to it, planning trips became really simple.

Public transportation in Paris also makes me feel free.
