Hi everyone! This week, I wanted to share some information about one of the most pressing issues in my town: climate change.
Climate change problems have come about as a result of uncontrolled fossil fuel burning. Big countries like the U.S., China and India burn tons of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas to produce energy. As these fuels burn, they release what are called "greenhouse gasses" into the air. These gasses then act as a kind of barrier in the sky which traps heat from the sun on the Earth, and eventually causes our planet to get warmer.
Below, I’ll talk about how rising temperatures have impacted my town and what people are doing to help fight back.
As you all know, I’m living in a rural town up in the mountains called La Paz de San Ramón. It’s so beautiful here! It’s green for as far as the eye can see and home to all different kinds of exotic animals.
Over the past few years, my town has been trying to take advantage of its natural beauty. Members of the community have been starting up all different kinds of tourism projects including hotels, nature hikes, and much more. Their goal is to attract tourists from all over the world who have a deep respect for nature and come to learn more about sustainability.
