The Life of Hajar

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

The school Hajar attends teaches classes in English. However, all the students that attend the school are at least multilingual (can speak several languages). The students can speak English, French and Darija (a regional dialect of Arabic that is unique to  Morocco). To say hello in English is "Hello". In French, it is "Bonjour". In Darija, one can say hello by saying "Ahlan" (Ah-lan) or "Saalam" (Saa-lam).

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Hajar says that common kids's names in Morocco are Omar, Hajar and Fatima. But she has met a lot of people named Adam, Amon, Chaima (Chai-ma) and Salma (Sal-ma).

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

Hajar studies AP Chemistry, AP Literature, AP Statistics, Comparative Politics and Government, Music, French II, Speech and Debate, and a senior project. Hajar does not have a favorite class, but does have a favorite teacher. Her favorite teacher is a very hard teacher and he teaches a hard class: Statistics. Hajar likes learning new things and challenging herself to find out more.

What is your homework like?:

Hajar has a lot of homework. Sometimes her homework is easy, but sometimes it is very hard. When the homework is very hard, she works on it until 2:00 a.m and then wakes up early to try to complete it. Hajar doesn't like to give up on homework. She likes to keep trying and working until she can get it right.
