It can be difficult to make local friends at the university I attend, as students often like to hang out together, separate from the exchange students. One friend I have made here, however, is named Jennifer. She teaches piano to students throughout the city. Thanks to her, I was able to meet with one of her students, Angus, a fifth-grader living in the Hang Hou neighborhood of the city. He was super-friendly and told me a lot about what it's like to grow up in Hong Kong. Let's meet him!
Usually on a school day for breakfast, I go out to buy bread from Maxin (a chain bakery in the city). For lunch, my parents pack me food or bring me some sort of take-out. Rice ball, beef curry rice... we might even go to McDonald’s! Then for dinner, my mum will often cook for us. Last night she made an eggplant stew.
I live in an apartment. There’s a living room, a bathroom and three bedrooms. I share a room with my brother. It’s actually pretty big for Hong Kong. And my building is huge. There are 70 floors, but I live on the first one.
