Kids At School

Introduction:

As a university English teacher, my job is to help train future English teachers in Brazilian communities. I asked my future teachers if I could visit their classrooms to learn more about what it’s like to be a kid in Brazil!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Kids usually eat pão de queijo (cereal) in the morning. For lunch, most kids eat beans and rice. Dinner will change depending on what their parents decide to cook or eat.

What is your house like?:

Many kids have different kinds of houses, but it is common for kids to live in farms, apartments, condos or full houses. Have you ever thought about where you live in the United States?

What chores do you have at home?:

At home, kids usually have to clean up their toys, set the table for meals and make their beds every day.

What jobs do your parents have?:

Kids have parents with many different jobs such as doctor, lawyer, teacher and veterinarians.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

For pre-school, kids go to school from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Older kids go to school from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. What is your schedule like?

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:
