"I usually eat my lunch at my dining room table or at the beach. My favorite food here has probably been either dholl puri, which is a really large piece of wrap filled with beans and vegetables, or samosas. Even though those two are my favorite, I have many others that I really like, such as baguettes. If you go in a grocery store here, you will always see fresh baguettes right out of the oven. It seems like 90% of people walking out of a store have a baguette in their hand. Even though I'm getting all of these wonderful foods, there are some things I miss, such as cottage cheese, normal sour cream, Mexican food, and Taco Bell."
"Since I'm homeschooled, my books are in English, but one of the two main languages in Mauritius is French. I am meeting with a tutor for French class. It usually takes about 45 minutes to get there because traffic is really bad, then I sit there for about two hours and try to learn the language. 'Bonjour' is how you say hello in French. Another way to say hello is 'Salut', which can also mean goodbye."
"Some of the names of the kids that I have met here so far are really cool, such as Ambika, Allezay, Chloe, Aroona, Warren, Katharina, Sarah, Priya, Perrine, and Yulia. It's really interesting to me how there is such a variety of names, with some being really well known in America, while others are difficult to pronounce."
