Nature News

For the rest of the week, we had sunny days, and it was perfectly timed whenever we had to go to the beach or hiking!

What animals did I see this week? :

Being in Costa Rica, it’s only natural to see different animals, and going to a rural area of Costa Rica, you are bound to see more! On the second day of our tour to Northern Costa Rica, we went to the Venado Caves, a six-million year old home to various insects, spiders and bats! Because the caves are filled with water, we were advised to not bring in our phones, so unfortunately, I don’t have any photos from this experience. However, there were many cool species of spiders, especially the Scorpion Spiders. And while you are walking in the dark cave, you will definitely hear the squeaks and flutters of bats flying above you. And if you don’t hear them, don’t worry— they’ll poop on you! My friend got to experience that!

On the third day of the tour, we went to Caño Negro Wetlands National Wildlife Refuge. As the name suggests, this is the home to various animals! We saw caimans, crocodiles, cows, white-faced monkeys and lots of different types of birds! We went on a boat down the river that’s located within the refuge. When we stopped for lunch after the boat tour, they had a big bull at the restaurant, which was really cool!

On the fourth day of our trip, we went horseback riding! Did you know that horses have a hierarchy between them? To explain this further: regardless of whether or not they're in a ranch or in a pack, the horses organize themselves with leaders leading the way. I was riding one of the lead-horses, who was up in front. His name was Dorado!
