Spanish is the main language spoken in Northern Costa Rica. And seeing how Northern Costa Rica is a little more rural than other parts of this country, you can expect to hear more Spanish spoken here— except at the tourist spots, of course. In those places, every native will assume you are a foreigner and will speak in English to you.
The Costa Rican Colon is the main currency in Costa Rica. One dollar is worth about 539 colones, as of right now.
A one-liter water bottle costs about 1250 colones or $2.33.
I know its not a Costa Rican classic, but for one of my meals this week, I had Alfredo Pasta with Garlic Bread! It had been a while since I'd had anything creamy or pasta-related in Costa Rica, and it felt so good to eat something familiar! That being said, all of the meals we ate during the tour were all really good! I need to give a special shout-out to the fried fish and casado dishes!
