During our Spring Break, we had the opportunity to head to Northern Costa Rica, where the weather is typically more intense compared to the Southern part of Costa Rica, where the weather is more consistent and stable. On our first day heading to our first destination, Chachagua, it was sunny and bright. However, as we got closer to the North, the streets were sparse in terms of buildings, and the sky became dreary and cloudy. It was quite an unexpectant change from the bright and shining San Ramon. We stopped briefly for a chocolate tour at a local farm, and by the time we left, I felt the first tease of rain drops, but no rain, yet. It wasn’t until we arrived at our first hotel that the rain began really to pour. And this was how it was for, at least, three of the six days we spent on the road. Often accompanying the rain was this thick fog. It had been a while since I heard the sounds of thunder and rain, so it was almost refreshing! But considering this is still the dry season in Costa Rica, during which time there is supposed to be no rain with the weather being completely hot, the rain and the fog was quite the pleasant surprise!
