The weather this week was beautiful. I expected it to be cold in Ulaanbaatar by now, but October has been cool and sunny—perfect fall weather. Every day this week the sun was shining and it was in the 50s F. It is supposed to snow soon though, and the nights are getting cold. It has been a bit windy as well, and I’m glad I brought a warm scarf.
This week, I saw many cute dogs, as I was walking around Ulaanbaatar. I also saw several different types of birds while I was hiking last weekend, including huge vultures. Vultures are large, black birds that eat dead animals. I climbed to the top of a mountain with my friend, and at the top were several vultures circling overhead, looking for food.
This week, I went hiking on a mountain called Bogd Khan Mountain, named after the last King of Mongolia. My friend and I hiked up this mountain, climbing up a bunch of huge rocks to reach the top. From this point, we could see for hundreds of miles!
