Navigating La Rioja

The streets of Logroño are always bustling with people walking around, shopping or stopping at outdoor cafes, so I feel very safe walking around on my own.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

When I first tried using the buses in Spain, I felt nervous. There were a lot of new things that I had to consider. For example, I had to figure out which bus line to take and at what time, locate the bus stops, find out which bus stop to get off at and, finally, how to arrive at my final destination from the point where I was dropped off. For someone who is not accustomed to using public transportation, this was quite a bit to think about! However, once I got the hang of it and familiarized myself more with La Rioja, using the buses became very easy for me. I also discovered a transportation app called "Moovit" which helps me navigate more easily through Spain.

It was very interesting adjusting to walking everywhere because, in California, a 30-minute walk is considered a long journey. However, in Spain, a 30-minute walk is considered to be muy cerca or "very close." This took a bit of getting used to. Now I really enjoy walking all over and being immersed in the city!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Both walking and using the bus are very connected to the culture and environment because they reflect the more relaxed, slow pace of life in Spain compared to some places in the United States. Here, people don't mind walking 30 minutes to get to work, whereas in the United States, people usually prefer not to walk for such a long time.
