Traditional Food of Tarragona: What Would You Try First?

Introduction:

Hello, students!

Many people say that food  is the easiest way to get to someone's heart, and Tarragona's food has all my heart by now. During my stay here in Tarragona, I had have the pleasure of trying so many delicious foods and learning about how they are made. I hope so much that you have the chance to try them at some point... I think you'll agree with me about how fascinating some of these foods can taste!

What food did I try?:

The first traditional food with which I fell in love is Tarragona's traditional pan amb tomaquet (bread with tomato). This traditonal pan tumaca is inspired by bread spread with olive oil, a preparation that has been part of the Mediterranean cuisine since ancient times in Greece. The whole tradition of eating this delicious bread started in the eighteenth century, when the first tomatoes arrived from America. After that, pan tumaca appeared in Catalan farmhouses, where they spread the tomato on dried bread and seasoned it with some oil and garlic so that it was soft enough to chew. Traditionally, Catalans would drink wine to accompany the bread. Nowadays, resturants modify the recipe, and as you can see, people add cheese to it as well.

Another food that I had the pleasure of eating is paella.
