Russian is the main language spoken here. However, in the Russian language department, we have several students from Japan, so I have also heard a lot of Japanese recently.
The ruble is used in Russia. The ruble sign is ₽.
A bottle of water costs about $1. However, you almost always have to pay for water at restaurants. It is not free as it is in the United States.
The best meal this week was spent with some of my friends. We had trekked through the snow and rain, and then sat in a cafe for several hours talking and laughing. The time spent with friends was very sweet, and was even sweeter when finished with a strawberry sorbet!
This week I went to see the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" (in English, with Russian subtitles). Of course, this led me to listen to some of Queen's music over and over again.
On Saturday, I had a meeting of the English Dinner Club. This week, there were guests (including me) from all over the world, and we got to ask questions about each others' countries and cultures! It was a really cool learning experience.
