I have really enjoyed getting to experience the different environment in Paraguay. Growing up, I always loved watching the National Geographic channel and dreamed of going on a trip through the Amazon. The climate in Paraguay is similar to what I saw on T.V. when I was younger. It has been fun to live in a different climate to the one I grew up with in the United States. Here there are many tropical trees and animals that I had only seen on T.V. or in the zoo but which now live in my backyard! Come join me as I discuss some of the exciting things I have seen in the Paraguayan environment.
Paraguay is located in South America, which means that it has a very humid and tropical environment. This is different than the United States, which, generally, has temperate forests with trees like pine trees or trees that lose their leaves in the fall (much like you see in your home state of New York!). However, the constantly warm temperatures in Paraguay make the climate tropical. There are many thunderstorms that bring a lot of rain and large plants that thrive in the hot weather.
In the rural parts of the country, the forests have not yet been developed. This means that people do not live there and that the forests remain untouched by human construction.
