Ghana’s infrastructure is slowly being upgraded, but it still has a long way to go. The city of Accra is an urban area that is known to be more advanced than the rural areas, but even the city is struggling with the open sewage system. People are campaigning to bring back “sanitation inspectors” who used to work in Ghana to teach people about sanitation practices. In addition, there are groups who volunteer to clean up trash that might end in a landfill.
