I’ve listened to a lot of Tom Petty’s music this week. My favorite songs by him are “American Girl” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream”, both of which I listened to a lot as a kid and still love to rock out to now!
On my day off this week, I went to an amazing province called Dóng Tháp. It is about an hour and a half away from Can Tho by motorbike. I went with some of my friends and enjoyed the drive through the countryside. We visited a beautiful park called Xeo Quít, where we went on a boat tour through jungle canals. A lot of pythons live in that area, so we had to be careful of the dangerous snakes.
I’m reading a book right now called The Goldfinch, which is a story about a boy from New York who finds inspiration in different types of art after his mother passes away. It can be sad, exciting, happy and funny at different times, so it’s very entertaining! I like to read during my free time in Can Tho, especially when it’s really hot outside.
I play tennis four days a week with a group of local guys. There’s a court across the road from my house, and my roommate, Jack, and I were invited to start playing with them about a month ago. I also play soccer once or twice a week with some of my students. We play 5-on-5 matches on short fields with smaller goals. It is a lot of fun!
