I traveled about 8,700 kilometers this week, which equates to 5,400 miles. It took me about 20 hours to get to Dakar, Sengal and about 18 hours to get back to Lusaka, Zambia.
On this journey, I traveled about 17,400 kilometers or 10,800 miles. Altogether, it took me nearly 40 hours to make this trip. The flight also had an interesting path. I went from Lusaka (Africa) to Dubai (considered to be a part of Asia) to Senegal (Africa). My flight ended up being with a lot of other Fulbrighters, and we talked about how we had to go outside of of the African continent to come back into Africa.
I got around mostly by taxi and a bus this week. The people over my program had a bus booked for most of the week, so I used that to get from place to place. When I wanted to go somewhere outside of the program schedule, I used a taxi. I also walked to different restaurants and stores this week.
The most interesting place I visited this week was the Island of Gorée. It is located on the coast of Senegal and it was one of the largest slave-trading centers on the coast of Africa. At Gorée, I was able to see where enslaved people and slaveowners lived.
