Our News

I will say that my favorite meal this week was crab fried rice. I was given yellow radish, cabbage and vinegar, a light soup, pickled radish and tea on the side. I absolutely love almost all kinds of rice. Fried rice is so tasty, especially in South Korea. I also really loved my dessert order from Thanks Nature Cafe. For dessert, I ordered an espresso waffle and a strawberry-ade. The waffle was topped with vanilla and cinnamon ice cream, as well as whipped cream. It was so delicious and sweet!

What music did I listen to this week?:

Over the course of the week, I have listened to a lot of Korean pop. The most popular form of music here is Kpop. Many popular Korean pop songs are played on the radio and in stores in Seoul, just like English pop songs are played everywhere in the United States. In some stores and cafes, English songs will play. It is not very common, though.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I took many classes this week. Each class showed me how to create a traditional item in South Korea. The first class taught me traditional Korean Folk painting styles. I managed to create a butterfly and lotus flower for my grandmother. The second class taught me how to decorate rice cakes. Rice cakes are a dessert in South Korea that is typically made with sweet bean paste and rice dough. They are delicious and can be very pretty. My favorite class taught me how to build Hanok miniatures. A Hanok building is a traditional building style in South Korea. When making a Hanok building, the builder does not use any nails! Hanok buildings are made like legos.
