What did I read this week?:

Since I am taking classes while here, the majority of my reading has been textbooks, though I have done some reading on my own time. Recently, I have taken to learning more about King Sejong the Great. King Sejong is said to be one of the best kings in Korean history. Under his reign, several inventions were created. Many Koreans make use of his creations today. The most important creation actually came from King Sejong. During the time he was King, the Korean language had no alphabet. Rather, Koreans used Chinese characters when writing. The issue with this was that only aristocrats and royals could read and write. Common people consistently struggled. Seeing this, King Sejong created the Hangul - or Korean alphabet. Hangul is now used as a written form of Korean and is known as one of the easiest alphabets to lean in the world!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

Due to Covid-19 restrictions being very strict in South Korea, there are not many group activities. Since big groups of people are not allowed to gather, it is difficult to play games or sports together. Some of my friends in Korea have taught me a new game that we play over Zoom and Facetime occasionally. In the game, you hold up your hand. The first person in the game will say something like "anyone that is wearing glasses needs to put a finger down". Then, they call for the next person to say a similar rule. The first person or people to lose all five of their fingers loses. This game can actually be rather fun!

Other news from this week:

As I mentioned above, Covid-19 restrictions here are very strict.
