Every morning brought a crispy chill and every late afternoon brought moderate rains. Sometimes it rained into the evening, but usually the rain stopped just before it got chilly again. The middle of the day in Pokhara felt extremely hot, but after getting over the 3,000 meter altitude mark, although it was still bright, the cold winds kept the air from getting too hot. The day we reached Khopra Ridge at 3,660 meters, the winds moved at great speed and it started hailing intensely, but only for a few minutes.
In the first and last few days of my trek, pony expresses passed me up and down the mountain passages every few hours. About half of them were small ponies and the other half were donkeys.
While passing through one village, I also came across very odd looking chickens. Some of them had feathers that fluffed out like a porcupine, and they looked like kind of like normal chickens that had stood through a tornado.
